In a "post truth" world, can we depend on mainstream news organisations to give us the fact-based journalism we need?

As fake news becomes an increasing concern, regulation of the media has never been more relevant. In some people's eyes, there is little to distinguish fake news from flawed journalism, so during this event we'll ask:<ul><li>What do we mean when we talk of freedom of the press? </li><li>How effective has self-regulation been post-Leveson ? </li><li>Are news organisations showing more responsibility?</li><li>And are we seeing new definitions of being “wronged by the press”?</li></ul>Our speakers include:<ul><li>Hannah Chapman, Editor of the Northern Echo</li><li>Sir Alan Moses, Chairman of the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO)</li><li>Jamie Macaskill, Digital Editor at Grimsby Live &amp; Scunthorpe Live</li></ul>This event is co-hosted by IPSO, the independent regulator for the newspaper and magazine industry in the UK, and the Civic Journalism Lab.
