Why does fact checking matter?

There is a history behind fact checking and the contemporary need for it. It is also important to move beyond recent narratives of “Post-Fact” and “Fake News”, to emphasise fact checking’s position in a wider context of human nature, interaction, and our inter-relatedness.
Come and participate in a discussion on the interplay of facts, opinion, and power, accentuated by social media networks as a means to manipulate consent.
You will also learn what FactCheckNI and its partners are doing to combat misinformation campaigns, through media literacy and technical tools.
