Why is getting it wrong good for science?

IF Oxford science and ideas Festival takes place in venues across Oxford, and online each October with events and entertainment to inspire debate and celebrate research and creativity in Oxfordshire. The Festival has a vision of a world where the complexity, wonder and opportunities of scientific research are explored, challenged, celebrated and enjoyed across society.The Festival is organised by the Charity Oxfordshire Science Festival, Charity number 1151361

Do you feel confident trusting the science behind discoveries? Hosted by Elsevier, publisher of Cell, The Lancet and ScienceDirect join Tracey Brown OBE from Sense About Science to explore how the research community can improve trust in the scientific process. Find out why getting things wrong can be good for progress by questioning the problems and opportunities of discovery and innovation. A reception will follow the live event. This event is offered in-person in the Oxford Museum of Natural History, and also as a simultaneous digital live-stream. Please ensure you choose the correct ticket type for your preferred attendance. IF Oxford uses Pay What You Decide (PWYD) ticketing so you can choose to pay whatever you want, or can afford. You can make your donation during booking or after the event and the amount you pay is up to you. A suggested donation of £5 per person for each event enjoyed will help secure the future of the Festival. IF Oxford is run by The Oxfordshire Science Festival (charity #1151361) and your donation may be eligible for Gift Aid, where a charity can claim back an extra 20% of your donation at no cost to you. In the event of a change in COVID status, the Festival reserves the right to convert in-person events to digital if required and will inform all ticket holders of any changes.
