Wicked Patterns & Sticky Maps - Environmental Justice Creative Workshop

This will be a fun and interactive creative mapping workshop to explore environmental justice.

Trevithick Room, ESI Building, University of Exeter, Penryn Campus

Do you conduct research on the environment or on justice? Are you interested in how these two research areas can be fruitfully combined to help deliver the ‘greener’ and ‘fairer’ parts of our University Strategy? 

If so, the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Cornwall, and Creative Fellowship artist Daksha Patel (https://dakshapatel.co.uk/) would like you to join us in a creative mapping workshop to explore environmental justice. 

What does environmental justice mean? And how can we achieve it?

This will be a fun and interactive workshop where we will collaboratively use colour, drawing and writing to create patterns of ideas on a large-scale.

We will explore:

-	The meanings of terms ‘environment’ and ‘justice’
-	The interrelationships between species, humans and landscapes
-	Shallow and deep definitions of environmental justice
-	The benefits of environmental justice
-	The reasons we agree and disagree about the parameters of environmental justice and how to solve them
-	The ways in which we can ensure that people, ecosystems, species and environments are respected in human decision-making.

Join us for lunch from 12 noon in the ESI Café. The workshop starts at 1PM in the Trevithick Room.
