William Walton's FAÇADE
Step into the wit, charm, and playful eccentricity of Façade, opening A Walton Weekend at the Bury Music Festival.
Please note there are two ticket options for this event - a ticket with festival drinks reception included, and a ticket for the performance only.
Described by William Walton as “an Entertainment,” Façade is a uniquely British 1920s delight - blending the mischievous poetry of Edith Sitwell with a sparkling, rhythmically inventive instrumental score. By turns witty, surreal, and gently satirical, it’s a piece that doesn’t take itself too seriously, inviting audiences to enjoy its humour, colour, and unmistakable sense of fun.
Performed by the Facade Ensemble (who first came together with this very work) this concert is Supported by The Walton Trust and celebrates the centenary year of Lady Susana Walton, a wonderful champion of Façade who performed it widely.
A lively and characterful start to the festival: full of wordplay, musical sparkle, and just the right amount of irreverence.
