Willow Swift Workshop

Over the course of the morning you will be taught this ancient craft of weaving to make your own willow swift. All tools and materials will be provided. This is a fun, relaxed introduction to weaving, with no prior experience necessary (but please be aware that manual dexterity is required – while it is still possible to weave with arthritis, it can be challenging).

This class will be taught by Evelyn Jardine who has worked in community arts for many years offering basket making and other creative projects to a wide variety of groups within the community. Evelyn first learned basketmaking when she worked as craft workshop leader within a Rudolph Steiner Community offering basketry as a therapeutic activity. Since then, she has worked within the arts and mental health field as a counsellor and arts facilitator and particularly enjoy supporting others in their own creative endeavours. She has a wealth of experience of weaving willow to create beautiful items, including baskets using these ancient techniques.
