Willow Weaving Full Day Workshop - Hares
A lovely long workshop, to fully get to grips with Willow Weaving, under the expert tutelage of sculptor, Elizabeth Cooke.
As part of this year's Sculpture Exhibition, the Surrey Sculpture Society are offering a small programme of workshops and tours. It is a wonderful chance to work alongside the artists and to see and hear more about their process, whilst creating something yourself.
Garden entry is included in the price so try to arrive early and see the exhibition whilst you are here (We open 10 - 5).
The workshop is limited to only 8 people, so you will get lots of practical assistance during the day.
The workshop will take place in the lovely Tipi in the Gardens. Garden entry is included in the price, so you can enjoy a little wander before and after. We will have a hot drink station set up in the tipi for you. Please bring a packed lunch. We do have a cafe on site if you would like to buy anything.
This is an adults only day.
All materials supplied, please bring secateurs, if you have them.
ABOUT ELIZABETH: Inspired by a conversation with her brother Chris, Elizabeth started Willow weaving around 2000. She and Chris first learned to weave in-situ willow fences. Chris then set up Lark Valley Willow which primarily makes bespoke willow fences. Meanwhile Elizabeth, already a sculptor, started weaving willow sculptures. Over the years she has made many pieces, from a pair of tennis players to a crown and many many deer! For her larger pieces she creates a metal armature.
Elizabeth now delivers willow courses to both adults and children, her most popular courses being hares, chickens & pheasants and Christmas decorations!
