As part of the Windows to the Worlds festival, we are inviting you to join a creative workshop while exploring the history St Mary's church

St Mary's Parish Church

If you could take only one memory with you into eternity, which would it be?Let our facilitators guide you through a creative process of discovery, exploration, and celebration of your own amazing autobiographical memories.During this carefully curated programme of self-guided creative activities, introduced to the participant group by our facilitators, you will be supported to open up a space for shared reflection during the session. We will use the active meditative practice of labyrinth walking to connect participants with their thoughts, feelings and memories, and also with St Mary’s Church.Join us for this creative participatory workshop from <a href="http://www.theotherwayworks.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Other Way Works</a> based on activities from our <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD4YkVq46Ec" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Afterlife Retreat</a>.“It was amazing to be given the time, space and structure to connect to joyous memories” (Participant, Afterlife Retreat 2020)Suitable for participants aged 14+Do I need to bring anything?Please bring a smartphone and headphones but don't worry, we can provide these for you if needed! Ticket optionsYou can either join us in person at St Mary's on Saturday July 17th from 10am - 2:30pm, or you can choose a virtual ticket to join our virtual workshop on Thursday July 22nd from 6 - 9pm. If you know when you want to join us, we advise you to book a free ticket. We also hold back a small number of tickets for walk-ins on the 17th of July. These places will be distributed on a first come first served basis. So make sure you come early to save yourself a space!Keeping you safeIn response to Covid-19, we are following public health guidance and may have additional measures in place, which are carefully designed to keep you and our staff safe and healthy. This means that you will have to wear a mask while you are inside the church, with the exception of those who are medically exempt.About Windows To The World:This workshop is part of a festival for the NLHF funded 'Windows to the World' project. From the 12th to the 23rd of July, Windows to the World Festival is celebrating the colourful history of the oldest church in Barnard Castle – through art, music, and history.The church will be home to Journeys – Teithiau, a stunning exhibition of stained glass artwork by Jonathan Cooke, Catrin Davies, Nicola Kantorowicz, Elizabeth Lamont, Rachel Phillips, and Christian Ryan currently exhibited at the Stained Glass Museum at Ely.We will offer workshops, tours, performances and heaps of other exciting activities. The Windows to the World festival will be sure to offer something for curious minds of all ages.
