Windrush Tek Over is an immersive cultural celebration taking over the foyer of Hackney Empire on Wednesday 24th June.Honouring the legacy, resilience and contributions of the Windrush generation, this free public event celebrates Caribbean heritage, identity and community through creativity, connection and shared experiences.What to expect:<ul><li>Ship-front installation exploring journeys, migration and belonging</li><li>Interactive intergenerational writing workshop</li><li>Live performances</li><li>Spoken word</li><li>Original soundscapes</li><li>Caribbean music</li><li>Refreshments and conversation</li><li>Community gathering space</li></ul>Visitors are welcome to move freely through the space, engage with activities at their own pace and connect with Windrush stories in a creative and welcoming environment.The day culminates in a live showcase featuring community participants alongside professional dancers and actors, sharing stories of heritage, identity and belonging across generations.Created by Actively SeeK.I.N.G. and Makeda Creative House.
