We offer a variety of events for All, free family stem events and talks and lectures delivered by our experts in our world class Nationally Styled  Accredited working Musuem.

<H2>WINTER BYTES - FOUR UNIQUE ACTIVITIES! </H2>
The Winter Bytes festival is here once again, and we have four great activities for kids aged four and upwards. 
There are Minecraft challenges, Lego robot building and programming, BBC micro:bit programming and hands-on play programming with the help of a friendly wooden robot. 
So, lots to fascinate kids between Christmas and New Year.
Running December 27th to 29th 2019, 10:30 am to 17:00pm. January 1st 10:30-16:00
January 2nd - 5th 10:30- 17:00

STEM Bytes festivals have become the go-to Milton Keynes event for children wanting creative fun during the school holidays and every weekend throughout the year. From Minecraft to Lego, BBC micro:bits to robotics kits, there is plenty to do to unlock imaginations, inspire and entertain. Educational fun for all the family, providing Bytes sized tasters of coding, robotics, augmented reality, virtual reality and much much more!
The National Museum of Computing is proud to present its new and improved STEM Bytes programme, running at the museum every Saturday and Sunday and throughout all school holidays.

Please note that these hands-on activities are not drop-off events. Parental supervision is required.
Oculus Rift - try a variety of Virtual Reality experiences 
Minecraft Challenge 
Minecraft is an open-world construction-based video game that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment where the only limit is your imagination. 
Lego Mindstorms Robots activities  
Parental participation required because of the nature of the activity - allow 1-2 hours.
Participants will work with Lego Mindstorms to build and program a robot to solve a variety of problems, including mazes, moving objects and even racing. Lego Mindstorm kits are one of the world's most popular robotics kits, and can teach youngsters the potential of applying creative automated solutions to real-world problems. The programming can be a little in-depth, but Mindstorm's proprietary scratch-style language is exceptionally powerful, and our kits come with a complete tutorial & guide.
BBC micro:bit drop-in workshops
The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized computer that you can code, customise and control to bring your digital ideas, games and apps to life. The BBC micro:bit can do all sorts of things, like detect motion and tell you which direction you’re heading in, and it can use a low-energy Bluetooth connection to interact with other devices and the internet and communicate with other micro:bits - the real fun is letting kids discover all the things nobody told them they could do! 
In this workshop, children can learn to code from pre-constructed challenges and tasks that are designed to promote logical, creative thinking. We have a range of challenges suitable for all ages
Cubetto & Sphero Minis drop-in
Cubetto is a friendly wooden robot that will teach your child the basics of computer programming through adventure and hands-on play. Montessori-approved and LOGO Turtle-inspired, Cubetto is ideal for little coders getting started.
Sphero Minis - suitable from ages 4 - 50+, are programmable, extremely fun little robots that can help kids learn how tiny code changes can have a massive impact on real-world performance! Featuring customisable colours, scratch & Javascript support!  This event is primarily aimed at children aged 4–7, but adults be warned, it's more fun than it looks!
