Winter Talk Series: 'Gunsgreen House and its Building Stones'
Join Alsion Tymon, a local geology expert, for a talk on the materials used to build the infamous Gunsgreen House.
Join Berwickshire Marine Reserve for our Winter Talk Series as we bring experts from various backgrounds to share their knowledge and expertise with you. These events are free to attend, but donations are gladly received to allow us to continue providing educational opportunities to the local community.
The mansion house was designed by the Adams architectural brothers from Edinburgh, in 1752-53. It is fascinating to try to suggest where the builders obtained the stone that was used both inside the house and for the façade in spite of the lack of documentary evidence, using local knowledge on historic quarries.
This talk will last for one hour, and refreshments will be available.
