Route description
This scenic circular walk begins at Briddlesford Lodge Farm, heading through peaceful countryside alongside the edge of ancient Briddlesford Copse. The route continues towards Wootton Bridge, offering charming rural views before crossing the heritage Isle of Wight Steam Railway—watch for passing trains. From Wootton, the trail climbs gently along Packsfield Lane, winding through quiet farmland and lanes. A turn onto the tranquil Littletown Lane leads you back toward the starting point, completing the loop. With woodland edges, nostalgic railway sights, and country lanes, this walk is a perfect mix of nature and history in the heart of the Isle of Wight.

Meeting location: Briddlesford Lodge Farm, Briddlesford Road, Wootton, Isle of Wight PO33 4RY
Public toilets: Briddlesford Lodge Farm have kindly offered to let us use the cafe toilets prior to the start of the walk. Possible toilet stops at Lakeside Hotel halfway round and the public toilets on Brannon Way in Wootton.
Parking: Customer car park at Briddlesford Lodge Farm
Public transport: Possible but challenging. You can take the 9 bus from Newport to Ryde . The 07:10 bus stops at Wootton Common Crossroads at 07:18 and it's then 10 mins walk to our meeting location. However, there is limited grass verge along a busy main road and we'd recommend a longer (20 mins) but safer route along Littletown Road (which forms part of our route). Full timetable here
Post-walk: The Bluebell Cafe (at Briddlesford Lodge) for some optional refreshments and/or breakfast to continue conversations.
