Words Left Behind

The Portico LibraryManchester
Saturday, Feb 21 from 4:30 pm to 6 pm GMT
Overview

An invitation to recognise the often unseen work translators do to support understanding and inclusion. Everyone welcome.

Join us as we reflect on the words that defy translation. In this roundtable, a panel of translators working with refugee charities, newly arrived students and community organisations in Manchester will respond to words suggested by visitors to The Portico Library, exploring words with no English equivalent, cultural ideas that are hard to explain, and moments when language can either help people settle or make things harder.
