Work in Progress: Beserker
A Wild Norse Epic retold by Storyteller Marcus Pibworth
A kingdom shivers beneath the shadow of a winged terror.
Kings rise, kings fall and betrayal coils in every hall.
Warriors hunger for the clash of steel. Whispers of old sorcery stir in the dark places of the world.
Old wounds demand their due. Revenge begets revenge.
Can Bodvar Bjarki—bear-strong, battle-scarred—rally the king’s champions and lead them across the frozen breadth of the Northlands, outwitting gods and men, toward a destiny where only the bravest may stand against the gathering doom?
Born of the same ancient narrative root that gave rise to the Old English epic Beowulf, but treading a path into strange and mysterious realms of its own, Marcus Pibworth’s darkly comic retelling of an Old Norse saga leads you deep into the uncharted wilds of myth and legend.
“Marcus Pibworth’s performance is a masterful retelling of this little known Nordic myth, told with power and reverence. If you love tales of intrigue, derring do’s and mythic powers, this is the one for you” - Jan Blake, Storyteller
Bio: Marcus is a performance storyteller, trained and mentored by some of the UK’s top storytellers, including Jan Blake and the International School of Storytelling. He is based in the wild borderlands of England, beneath the shadow of the Black Mountains. His storytelling is heartfelt, a little anarchic, sometimes chaotic, and always rooted in genuine connection. He has performed stories at venues across the UK and beyond, is a regular presence at festivals including Buddhafield and the Oxford Storytelling Festival, and offers immersive, nature-rooted workshops from his storytelling yurt in rural Herefordshire
