Do you want to stop faffing and just write but feel like finishing your work is always just out of reach? It's OK, WIP is here for you.
In this monthly session, I will help you to finish your Work in Progress. Together we will look at all aspects of writing: character, structure, plot, themes, research and more. I will share prompts and exercises that will support you to progress, address those sticking points and the internal dialogue that sabotages us writers.
Our April session will focus on UNDERSTANDING YOUR PROCESS! Everyone's approach to writing is different. Some people plan, others work intuitively. Some research beforeheand, some as they go. Some edit as they go, some need the draft 0 energy to propel them. Most often we worry about what we're not doing or trying out the bizarre process of fab new debut bestseller in case it works for us. Rarely do we get the time to examine our process and lean into what is actually working for us and how to trust it. That's what this session will be all about!
I am an award winning, published author, poet and playwright. My novel HOW SAINTS DIE, 2018, Vintage, won New Writing North's Northern Promise Award. My play AND THE EARTH OPENED UP UNDER HER won FABER AND FABER'S New Play Award. My writing advice has been featured in The Writers and Artists Yearbook 2026. I have taught creative writing as a guest lecturer at the universities of Leiceter, Teesside and Plymouth. I am a Rebecca Swift Foundation Creative Associate. I am currently completing my PHD at Teesside University on Oral Storytelling. I was awarded a DYCP for to develop my hybrid form, lyrical storytelling for performance. I have mentored and taught award winning writers from across the country.
