Blue Cross for petsSick, injured and homeless pets have relied on us since 1897. Abandoned or unwanted, ill or injured, pets turn to us for help every year. Our doors are always open to them, and with your support, they always will be.Each year, thousands of cats, dogs, small pets and horses turn to our animal hospitals, clinics and rehoming services for treatment and to find them the happy homes they deserve.Ourvisionis that every pet will enjoy a healthy life in a happy home and we won’t rest until we achieve it. But we really need your help.We care for more than 40,000 pets every year but we know it’s not enough – there are many, many more out there who still desperately need us and we must be there for them. By 2020 we want to be helping 70,000 animals a year, and your support will help to make sure this happens.

Pet charity Blue Cross and qualified PT and fitness instructor Born Barikor, have designed the world’s first exercise class where humans exclusively perform exercises typically reserved for dogs.
 
All of the exercises in the 45-minute Work Out Like A Dog aerobic and conditioning class have either been adapted from a dog’s favourite exercises or have been directly inspired by man’s best friend. They include HIIT* ball fetch, tug-of-war and frisbee.The Work Out Like A Dog class consists of:

<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">WARM UP (8mins): consisting of agility, obstacle course and hurdle exercises</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">TRICK CIRCUIT (10mins): get up, down, rollover, sit, and stay your way through squats, planks and more</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">GAMES (15 mins): a round of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) ball fetching, frisbee and tug-of-war</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">COOL DOWN(WARD) DOG (3-4 mins): stretch and end with a Howl of Happiness! </LI>
</UL>
 
The class was commissioned by Blue Cross to raise awareness of how exercise keeps dogs healthy and happy, as high numbers of dogs arrive at the Blue Cross centres across the country due to behavioural needs stemmed from under-stimulus or lack of appropriate activities and exercise
