What's the training about?

This training will equip you with a greater awareness of the barriers people with varied communication difficulties face when dealing with health and care professionals. We will help you develop the skills to overcome those barriers and make a meaningful impact in supporting people living with a learning disability or a neurodiverse condition, including people who may have a visual, hearing or speech impairment.

The training is delivered by Healthwatch Leeds, Advonet and Leeds Hearing & Sight Loss Service who all work directly with client groups in need of better, more inclusive communication.

Who's the training for?

This training is suitable for staff working health, care and community or voluntary settings who work face-to-face with the public. It is also suitable for people who manage or design health and care services who would like to get a better understanding of how they can be made better for people.
