The West of England Combined Authority is led by Metro Mayor, Dan Norris, who is directly elected. The  Combined Authority was set up to make important decisions and investments that benefit people living and working in the West of England.We make the big decisions on transport, housing, jobs and training that shape our region. Working with residents, partners and employers across the West of England, we are here to drive prosperity and tackle the challenges the region faces, such as the climate and ecological emergency.

<p>Join us for an interactive conference to hear and learn from your peers and industry experts about the fully funded professional support on offer for your workforce planning, training and recruitment needs.</p>

<p>The West of England Combined Authority has brought its partners together so that small and medium sized businesses like yours can openly discuss the challenges around workforce planning, training, and recruitment, and learn about the collaborative solutions we offer.  </p><p>Join us on Tuesday 12 July to hear about the Combined Authority's <a href="https://www.westofengland-ca.gov.uk/growth-hub/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2021/09/Workforce-for-the-Future-Brochure-2022.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Workforce for the Future programme</a>. The programme offers bespoke workforce planning so you can upskill your employees and hire staff more effectively. We have already supported hundreds of SMEs  and are excited to share personal insights from an excellent set of speakers who have benefitted from the programme.  </p>

<h3>Event timings</h3><p><strong>9:30am</strong>: Arrival and refreshments</p><p><strong>10:00 – 10:15am</strong>: Welcome and introductions from the West of England Combined Authority</p><p><strong>10:15 – 10:45am</strong>: Insight from business leaders on their personal experiences of support received through Workforce for the Future </p><p><strong>10:45 – 11:45am</strong>: Break-out table discussions on the challenges you are facing. This includes:</p><ul><li>building your talent pipeline </li><li>retaining staff</li><li>workforce development</li><li>sustainability in business, and </li><li>sector-specific challenges.  </li></ul><p><strong>11:45am – 12:45pm</strong>: Lunch and networking opportunities with your peers and our partners to learn more about the free support on offer</p><p><strong>12:45pm</strong>: Event close</p>

<h3>Speakers</h3><ul><li>Federico Uliana, Director at <a href="https://www.pastauliana.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pasta Uliana restaurant</a>. <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/federico-uliana-171173a7/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Federico </a>is using Workforce for the Future to engage with college students to build his talent pipeline. </li><li>Duncan Fraser, Head of Production and Hannah Murdoch, Welfare &amp; HR Manager at <a href="https://aproductions.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">A Productions.</a> Hear about their workforce development planning support from Business West and learning about school engagement via West of England Careers Hub, who have enabled them to build a purposeful relationship with a local school. </li><li>Verity Langham, Disability Champion at <a href="https://www.agencyuk.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Agency UK</a>. <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/verity-langham/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Verity </a>has received disability inclusivity training from one of our key partners.</li><li>Simon Green, BS3 Development Café Manager, <a href="https://bs3community.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BS3 Community Centre</a>. Hear how Simon has been supported to connect with schools and collaborate with other businesses. </li><li>Seb Keightley, Training, Development and Digital Coordinator at <a href="https://www.greenregister.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Green Register</a>. Seb is taking advantage of the digital skills support offered through Workforce for the Future.</li><li>Martyn Sloman, Director at <a href="https://golddusttraining.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gold Dust Training</a>. <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/martynsloman/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Martyn </a>will share his experiences on engaging with student work experience and placements.     </li></ul>

<h3>Event details</h3><p>Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day. When you register to attend, there will be an option to share any dietary requirements you would like us to be aware of, as well as any accessibility needs and which themes you are particularly interested in. </p><p>If you would be happy for us to contact you in the future about other Combined Authority opportunities or events, there will be an opportunity at registration for you to opt in to these communications.</p>
