Relational, Jungian and Lacanian perspectives

The Learning Cooperative and <a href="https://www.redclinic.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">the Red Clinic</a> are proud to present this one-off online event on clinical work with refugees and other displaced persons from three distinct psychoanalytic orientations. Our speakers - each experienced psychoanalytic clinicians with substantial involvement with this demographic - will discuss the psychological impact of traumatic displacement and the specific presentations and challenges that can arise in the clinic.This event will be of interest to those working in whatever capacity with all forms of trauma, as well as those seeking better to understand the struggles of refugees. It will also be a rare opportunity to hear practitioners of diverse psychoanalytic approaches in conversation. We encourage those who have experienced displacement to join the discussion.Usha Tummala-Narra is an associate professor in Counseling, Developmental and Educational Psychology at Boston College, and practices independently as a relational psychoanalytic psychologist. She conducts research on mental health and trauma within immigrant communities, on which she has published extensively. She is author of <a href="https://www.apa.org/pubs/books/4317399?tab=1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Psychoanalytic Theory and Cultural Competence in Psychotherapy </a>(APA, 2016).Monica Luci is a Jungian analytical psychologist and relational psychoanalyst, with extensive experience in psycho-social assistance and psychotherapeutic work with asylum seekers and refugee survivors of torture. She is the author of <a href="https://www.routledge.com/Torture-Psychoanalysis-and-Human-Rights/Luci/p/book/9781138908604" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Torture, Psychoanalysis and Human Rights</a> (Routledge, 2017) and <a href="https://www.routledge.com/Torture-Survivors-in-Analytic-Therapy-Jung-Politics-Culture/Luci/p/book/9780367426682" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Torture Survivors in Analytic Therapy</a> (Routledge, 2022).Lionel Bailly is a Lacanian psychoanalyst, consultant psychiatrist and senior lecturer in psychoanalysis at University College, London. His research interests include the psychological trauma of human rights violations, war and cultural issues. He is the author of <a href="https://www.karnacbooks.com/product/lacan-a-beginners-guide/28930/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lacan: A Beginner's Guide</a> (Oneworld, 2009).
