About this event

All are welcome to join us for a day of hands-on workshops with the artists who created the popular Buckholt Bryngaer sculpture trail. There will be making, weaving and sonic explorations, drawing on and developing the themes of the existing works of art.

The sculpture trail was created by Rebecca Baddeley, Bex Wood, Emily Hedges and Mike Layward - all students on the Fine Art degree programme at Hereford College of Arts . working under the mentorship of local sculptor Michael Lawrence.

The day will also feature live music in the woods, including a promenade performance from the celebrated Welsh harpist Delyth Jenkins, who will be chatting to and playing for walkers she encounters on the hillfort and interacting with the sculptures.

Please bring a picnic, dress appropriately for the weather including footwear. The woods are full of scratchy things and there may be mud!!

The event will begin at The Shelter, Buckholt Woods, Manson Lane entrance, NP25 5RD WhatThreeWords ///forensic.depend.bonds

Frequently asked questions

How do I find The Shelter?

The Community Shelter is located inside the entrance to Buckholt Woods off Manson Lane on the north side of Monmouth. The postcode is NP25 5RD. We recommend that you use the WhatThreeWords app and navigate to ///forensic.depend.bonds

Is there parking nearby?

Parking is a few minutes walk from the shelter. Please follow signs. It's down a forestry track, so don't bring a Ferrari! You can drop passengers off on arrival. We can arrange lifts to and from parking if needed.

Is the event accessible?

Partially. The Community Shelter is by the roadside entrance and can be accessed, with assistance, by those with restricted mobility. If you would like more details or would like us to be on hand, please drop us an email or call (see contact details). Elsewhere the trail can be rough.

Are there toilets?

Yes - we have a compost loo with a view. Regrettably, it is not wheelchair accessible.

Can my child attend?

Children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

Are there refreshments?

There may be snacks and drinks for sale, but please bring a picnic and adequate water and be prepared to take away all your rubbish.
