Working with the Devolved Administrations

Working with the Devolved Administrations

Actions and Detail Panel

Online event

The devolved administrations (DAs) play a vital role in the laying of SIs and must be considered in all processes.

About this event

Please note that this session is only for colleagues who work within the Defra group, you must register with your organisation email address to be eligible to receive a ticket.

This training is vital for those who may work on secondary legislation at some point as DA engagement and clearance is a fundamental part of the planning and delivery of SIs.

This training session will encompass both the introductory and practitioner levels for ‘Working with the DAs on secondary legislation’.

In this session we will:

• Provide you with a basic introduction to devolution and how that impacts on secondary legislation,

• Talk about the different SI making powers and how that affects the engagement route an SI needs to follow,

• Teach you about the four different engagement routes involved with SIs, providing an overview for what you need to do for each route, including the clearance procedures,

• Explain about the different internal processes each DA has and how that affects clearance timelines,

• And finally, raise awareness about other factors you need to consider when laying an SI that require DA clearance (consent and agreement).
