About this event

As part of the East Sussex Wellbeing at Work Programme, we provide free Workplace Health Champions Training in partnership with One You East Sussex. We encourage registered employers to send at least one employee on this crucial training, as having a workplace health champion in your organisation can help you drive forward wellbeing improvements and support your journey to Wellbeing at Work accreditation.

Wellbeing Champions promote healthy lifestyles and inspire others to take a more active role in their health. Having Workplace Health Champions is a great way of ensuring that your entire organisation knows where to access to support, and that there are regular activities in place to raise awareness of health and wellbeing. This course will give delegates the confidence and skills they need to become a champion of wellbeing in their organisation. Attendees will learn how to run health campaigns and activities in the workplace, learn to initiate and sustain health related conversations with their colleagues, gain an awareness of local services and resources that colleagues can be signposted towards for support and understand how to influence others in the workplace.

The course is split into two sessions:

  • Session 2: Wednesday 8th December, 10am-12pm delivered online via video call.
    • In session 2, delegates will learn how to put their new MECC skills to use in the workplace, and how be a wellbeing champion in their organisation.

It is important that any delegate booked onto the course ensures that they can make both dates, as certification cannot be provided without attendance at both sessions.

It is expected that an employee being sent on champion training will already have an interest or passion for health and wellbeing, but they don’t need any prior knowledge or training. It is helpful to get your future champions booked onto a course as soon as your start the accreditation journey, as they will be able to support your wellbeing initiatives. Once qualified, champions will gain access to a bi-monthly networking meeting hosted by the Wellbeing at Work team, where champions can access support; best practice examples can be shared; health campaign materials will be distributed and expert-led, topic-based upskill sessions led.

Please note, at this time each organisation can send up to a maximum of two delegates on the course.

If you have any queries about Workplace Wellbeing Champion training, or the accreditation itself, please get in touch with the team at HealthyWorkplace@eastsussex.gov.uk

This course is funded by Public Health at East Sussex County Council, there is no cost associated to attendees.
