Workshop 5: Developing Community-Led Housing from conception to completion

About this event
Communities Creating Homes, your Community-Led Housing hub for Wales, are happy to bring you a series of workshops exploring the process of planning, design and building from conception to completion on site. These workshops link to Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Plan of work stages which is commonly used by architects and professionals to describe the stages of construction projects.
We will introduce each stage helping you to navigate the RIBA plan of work and how the Communities Creating Homes programme can help you progress with your Community-Led Housing ideas at each point.
You should attend these workshops if you:
• Are a group that has come together to develop Community-Led Housing for themselves and local people.
• Want to know more about Community-Led Housing and the support available.
• Are part an existing Community-Led Housing scheme that wants to refresh their skills or upskill in preparation to expand and grow.
This is the final workshop in a series of five, and you should confirm your attendance of each workshop separately following the links below.
15 April 2021 – An introduction to the RIBA plan of work, Community-Led Housing total process and the stages of the Communities Creating Homes programmes.
22 April 2021 – RIBA stages 0 & 1 Strategic Definition & Preparation and Briefing. This workshop will help you develop your vision and prepare a brief for your project including setting objectives, project viability and your group roles and responsibilities.
29 April 2021 – RIBA stages 2 & 3 Concept Design & Spatial Co-ordination. This workshop is all about visualising your site, bring your ideas into a realistic plan for the site including design specifications, preparing for planning applications and considering costs.
6 May 2021 – RIBA stages 4 & 5 Technical Design & Manufacturing and Construction. Our fourth workshop in our developing community-led housing series looks at refining designs to finalise specifications and moving onto construction.
Workshop 5:
13 May 2021 – RIBA stages 6 & 7 Handover and Use. The final workshop in our developing community-led housing series is all about what happens post-build including the handover of the site from developers and the longer-term maintenance of a new community-led housing scheme.

15 Ebrill 2021 – Cyflwyniad i’r camau cynllun Gwaith RIBA, y broses tai dan arweiniad y gymuned a chamau rhaglen Cymunedau’n Creu Cartrefi.
22 Ebrill 2021 – Camau RIBA 0 & 1 Diffiniad Strategol, Pharatoi a Briffio. Bydd y gweithdy yma yn helpu chi i ddatblygu eich gweledigaeth a pharatoi briff ar gyfer eich prosiect, gan gynnwys gosod amcanion, hyfywedd prosiect a rolau a chyfrifoldebau eich grŵp.
29 Ebrill 2021 – Camau RIBA 2 & 3 Dylunio Cysyniad a Chydlynu Gofodol. Mae’r gweithdy yma am ddelweddu'ch safle, dewch â'ch syniadau i mewn i gynllun realistig ar gyfer y safle gan gynnwys manylebau dylunio, paratoi ar gyfer ceisiadau cynllunio ac ystyried costau.
6 Mai 2021 – Camau RIBA 4 & 5 Dylunio Technegol a Gweithgynhyrchu ac Adeiladu. Bydd ein pedwerydd gweithdy yn ein cyfres datblygu tai dan arweiniad y gymuned yn edrych ar fireinio dyluniadau i gwblhau manylebau a symud ymlaen i'r gwaith adeiladu.
Gweithdy 5:
13 Mai 2021 – Camau RIBA 6 & 7 Trosglwyddo a Defnyddio. Mae’r gweithdy olaf yn ein cyfres datblygu tai dan arweiniad y gymuned am beth sydd yn digwydd ar ôl adeiladu, gan gynnwys trosglwyddo’r safle o’r datblygwyr a'r gwaith cynnal a chadw tymor-hir o’ch cynllun tai dan arweiniad y gymuned newydd.

The Wales Co-operative Centre is Wales’ national body for co-operatives, mutuals, social enterprises and employee owned businesses. We apply our co-operative values to strengthening communities and services as well as supporting these businesses.
For over thirty years, we’ve helped organisations and communities by providing responsive, reliable and flexible support.
Our work covers two broad areas.
- We support Wales’ economic growth by providing a comprehensive range of services to co-operatives, mutuals, social enterprises and employee owned businesses. We have been doing so successfully for over thirty years. As well as recognising the value of co-operatives as a business model, we also believe that the principles of co-operation can be applied to the traditional business sector for the benefit of the wider economy. Co-operation can act as a business advantage. As experts in co-operation, we have a role in supporting traditional businesses to gain a co-operative advantage from applying co-operative values and principles to their businesses, for example through consortia working.
- The Centre has considerable experience of delivering innovative programmes that strengthen communities and promote inclusion in a variety of different ways. We helped establish many of Wales’ credit unions and continue to work closely with the credit union movement to promote financial inclusion. The Wales Co-operative Centre is the leading organisation delivering digital inclusion interventions in Wales and currently delivers Digital Communities Wales on behalf of Welsh Government
