Growing Workshops

You are invited to join our free monthly workshops to learn more about growing food in harmony with nature. The sessions will introduce you to seasonal topics such as seed sowing, looking after seedlings, and seed saving.

Composting is a fantastic way to turn your waste into beautiful, crumbly soil that can be used in your garden. Composting can go wrong though – is your compost heap soggy, smelly or simply not breaking down? Do you find that some of the information out there is confusing and contradictory? In this workshop, we will look at the basics of how to compost effectively at home. We’ll also cover the importance of soil health, and how we maintain this at the growing project.All workshops will run on the 3rd Saturday of the month unless otherwise stated. The workshops will run from 10am to 11am, and you are welcome to stay afterwards to chat, look around the growing area and ask the workshop leader any questions. If you attend the training, you will also receive an emailed resource sheet afterwards with links to websites, videos and books you might want to use.This workshop will take place in the polytunnel in our growing area at Vine Road Rec. Hot drinks can be purchased from the Vine Road Community Café in the Pavilion with a 50% discount for attendees.

Please note, dogs will not be admitted at this event except guide dogs. All our events are dog free unless specifically mentioned in the event listing.Your ticket includes a 50% discount on a drink (hot or cold) at the Vine Road Community Cafe at the Pavilion.We will be taking photos and/or recording video at this event.
