Workshop: Designing for Virtual and Augmented Worlds

A two-day introductory workshop for women: explore the possibilities of Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality (VR/AR) technologies, and develop real-world skills in designing for virtual experiences. You will be able to experience different VR/AR applications and hear from a range of current Bristol-based immersive creators.

You will also develop your own 3D virtual world using A-frame, a webVR framework, using HTML coding.

Day 1: Thursday 4th July 10am - 3pm

Day 2: Friday 5th July 10am - 3pm

Lunch will be provided free of charge on both days, and we highly encourage all participants to remain at The Factory over the lunchtime break to meet and connect with each other and develop discussions around the workshop content and themes.

This workshop is free to attend as part of our 'Making It' training programme. You must be able to attend both workshop days.

You must be a self-identifying female to be eligible for this workshop.

Making It is part of the Women into Digital Jobs, Education and Training (WIDJET) project. WIDJET is a West of England Combined Authority project, funded by the Government’s Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the workshops?

There is a car park and bike shed at Filwood Green Business Park. By bus, you can catch the number 90, 50, 50A or M1 (all operated by First) from the centre of town, alight at Willinton Road and walk along Hengrove Way to the business park.

Is lunch provided?

Yes, this workshop will be fully catered with drinks, snacks and a buffet lunch. We will ensure that we cater for vegetarians and vegans, but please let us know of you have any specific dietary requirements.

Accessibility

Filwood Green Business Park is fully accessible for wheelchair users and can cater for anyone with other specific access requirements.

Our staff are not BSL trained, however we can book an interpretor via Bristol City Council. When booking your place on the course, please let us know any requirements. We require a minimum of one week's notice to book an interpreter.

We can provide worksheets in large print.

Personal assistants are welcome to attend the workshops with you, please let us know in advance.
