Imaging Cancer: New Approaches to Digital Pathology, Microscopy & Medical Imaging | A Convergence Science Centre workshop

A Convergence Science Centre workshop in partnership with the MACH3CANCER acceleratorWe are delighted to announce that the CRUK Convergence Science Centre will hold an in-person workshop addressing the importance of New Approaches to Digital Pathology, Microscopy &amp; Medical Imaging. This workshop will be taking place at the Centre&#x27;s space on Tuesday 7th June 2023 from 10.00-13.00.The ability to visualise and localise cancer is crucial to the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of the disease. The challenges are multiple; from the microscopic scale of the lesions and their ever-changing structure and heterogeneity, to the intrackability of metastatic events in the patient’s body. Solutions addressing these issues arise from the interfaces between biological, medical, and physical sciences combined with cutting-edge engineering and computing. Technological developments in digital pathology, microscopy and medical imaging have led to major advances in cancer treatment, a momentum we wish to grow. The mission of the CRUK Convergence Science Centre is to foster interdisciplinary interactions to find innovative solutions to urgent unmet needs in cancer. To do so, we will organise a workshop on the 7th of June 2023 from 10.00 to 13.00. This workshop will unite in the same room expers in microscopy, digital pathology, and medical imaging from across Imperial College London and the Institute of Cancer Research to discuss how to tackle the unresolved imaging challenges faced in cancer research and cancer care. It will be held in person in the Centre’s space in the Roderic Hill Building (South Kensington).Our goal is to create cross-institutional synergy between physical scientists developing new ways of imaging and biologists and clinicians looking for new technologies to invest in. We wish to identify the most promising challenges in cancer imaging today. We are looking across the discovery pathway, from optics applied to fundamental biology to medical imaging and digital pathology. We want to create a translational momentum as we believe it is never too early to discuss clinical applications.
