Workshop: Improvers Bodhrán with Fergal O'Brien

Fishguard FolkFestival/Gwyl Werin AbergwaunAn annual folk festival in the  towns of Fishguard & Goodwick over the second bank holiday in May, this year 23-26 May. We have ticketed headline evening concerts, free gigs in local venues, a session trail sponsored by Barti Rum, a workshop programme with  something for all ages and abilities and sanctuary talks, an art exhibition and a Pirate and Smuggler's  Walk. Set by the sea in beautiful  North Pembrokeshire, it is a welcoming space to connect, share joy, and create lasting memories together.

Improvers Bodhrán: Fergal will introduce players to more advanced tune types such as slides and slip jigs along with triplets, rim shots and tone variation. The latter part of the workshop will be accompanied by Holly Robinson on fiddle playing a couple of Welsh tunes to help develop bodhrán playing for Welsh tunes.Bring a Bodhrán.Limited bodhráns and tippers available.Children accompanied by adult.More about Fergal...he is a renowned musician from Portglenone, Co Antrim, with achievements including All Ireland titles and performances worldwide. He's an accomplished bodhrán teacher with the Traditional Arts Partnership, South Armagh and Warrenpoint CCE. Fergal has coordinated bodhrán group contributions to various projects including 'Titanic Drums', 'Anamchairde' and 'Green Space, Dark Skies'. He has authored multiple versions of the world's first graded bodhrán tutor and contributed to several music-related publications and CD’s. Bodhrán i Wella: Bydd Fergal yn cyflwyno chwaraewyr i fathau mwy datblygedig o alawon fel jigiau llithro a llithro ynghyd â thriphledi, ergydion rim ac amrywiad tôn. Yn rhan olaf y gweithdy, bydd Holly Robinson ar y ffidil yn chwarae cwpl o alawon Cymreig i helpu i ddatblygu chwarae bodhrán ar gyfer alawon Cymreig.Dewch â Bodhrán.Bodhráns a tippers cyfyngedig ar gael.Plant yng nghwmni oedolyn.Mwy am Fergal... mae'n gerddor enwog o Portglenone, Swydd Antrim, gyda chyflawniadau gan gynnwys teitlau a pherfformiadau ledled y byd. Mae'n athro bodhrán medrus gyda Phartneriaeth y Celfyddydau Traddodiadol, De Armagh a Warrenpoint CCE.
