The Visual Media Service (VMS) is provided by the ARIADNEplus Project and enables large datasets to be processed and displayed seamlessly and quickly, enabling end users to view and explore in detail:

3D objects ranging from size from a few mm to tens m, e.g. from beads up to statues and friezes.
Large, high resolution images (that can’t usually be easily displayed online), e.g. gigapixel photographs of frescoes, paintings, or any other planar artwork.
Relightable images (RTI and PTM) commonly used on artefacts such as coins.
Sets of images such as a time series relating to the same item.

The VMS technology provides a full set of interactive tools for the displayed object(s). As such, this service provides a valuable tool for the publication, exploration and dissemination of various aspects of Cultural Heritage and it can be accessed for free through the ARIADNE Portal.

The workshop, which lasts around one hour, will be focused on the latest improvements of the Visual Media Service, and in particular on the brand new setup system for the advanced management of 3D content. The webinar will start with a brief introduction of the ARIADNEplus Project followed by a presentation of the Visual Media Service with some case studies and use case scenarios. This will be followed by an open discussion for all involved.

This workshop is aimed at people working to promote cultural heritage in museums and galleries, in heritage preservation and conservation, heritage-based regional development, cultural tourism, creative businesses providing heritage presentation services and products, Open Source software development and research, etc.
