The Yorkshire and Humberside Federation of Museums and Galleries was one of the first regional federations to be established. It is the only dedicated membership organisation for people working in, or for the benefit of Museums and Galleries in the region. This introductory online workshop will introduce participants to the practice of value-led heritage experience design.

This introductory online workshop will introduce participants to the practice of value-led heritage experience design. In recognition that small and medium-sized heritage organisations will probably not have an in-house design team and their staff/volunteers are not trained designers, the workshop will use a set of design question cards (to be circulated in advance) to ensure that experience design decisions are made consciously and with consideration of core values such as Equity or Accessibility or Sustainability. Using participant&#x27;s own examples of a visitor experience, value-led design cards will be used to promote critical reflection of the underlying, often unconscious, design decisions made. Participants will be invited to then share their insights from these activities in pairs or as a group, and have a set of value-led design cards to take away with them.Requirements: Each attendee will be asked to deliver a 2-minute overview of their chosen visitor experience, including motivation/goals, target audience and outcomes (if available), and supported by 1 Powerpoint/Google Slide (to be submitted prior to the online workshop).An email with the joining link will be sent 24 hours before the event. Facilitators:Francesca DolcettiFrancesca is a PhD candidate at the University of York Archaeology Department. Her research interests focus on the design and evaluation of digitally-mediated experiences geared at archaeological sites, as well as the development of practical guidelines for the integration of User Experience Design and participatory design practices in archaeology. Claire BoardmanClaire is a PhD Candidate at the University of York Digital Creativity Labs. She is currently researching digital heritage content co-creation, re-use and storytelling within the context of digital placemaking and social cohesion in inner urban neighbourhoods. Before entering the Heritage sector, Claire originally studied informational science and systems, and has significant experience in user experience design both in the UK and overseas.
