In this interactive workshop, delivered by Dr Caitlin Kight, you’ll discover the basics of creating comics—designing characters, arranging scenes into a logical flow, and using common conventions of the form. Together we’ll explore a variety of styles to inspire experimentation, help you find your own visual voice, and spark new ways of storytelling.
We’ll also reflect on how making comics can support wellbeing—by offering time to relax, play, and connect with yourself and others. Absolutely no prior drawing experience is required.
By the end of the workshop, you will have:
- Given yourself permission to enjoy something playful and creative
- Experienced the value of experimenting, crafting with your hands, and getting lost in the process
- Gained confidence to move past fear of drawing or judgment of your own work
- Developed a deeper appreciation for comics as an artform—and perhaps even the spark to pursue it further
