Workshop²
A Beginner + Workshop Design Intensive
Workshop² is coming back! 📢
As the first chapter of a three-month co-learning cycle, Workshop² is a one-day, in-person intensive designed to support early-stage facilitators in navigating the emotional, social, and logistical complexity of running workshops. Through practical exercises, case examples, and collaborative discussion, participants explore how methodology, materials, language, and spatial awareness shape meaningful workshop experiences.
This edition focuses on three key learning objectives:
- Holding the Space: Setting boundaries, working with uncertainty, and managing emotional labour sustainably.
- Reading the Room: Noticing participation dynamics and responding to shifts in energy in real time.
- Practical Production Skills: Pacing sessions, managing time and resources, and translating ideas into tangible workshop formats.
✨You will:
- Develop confidence in holding space and facilitating groups
- Explore pacing, participation dynamics, and accessibility considerations
- Design and refine workshop proposals with peer support
- Test ideas in a supported public showcase environment
- Receive structured feedback and reflection tools
Also leave with:
- Hands-on practical tools,
- Workshop Design Toolkit,
- A network of peers interested in participatory and collaborative practices
Workshop² is not a standalone session. It is also the entry point to the In•Practice Lab, a peer-learning programme that continues with mentorship, collaborative workshop development, public experiments, a showcase opportunity in the Workshop Festival taking place in May, and evaluation.

A light lunch will be provided, as well as comfort breaks.
🪸The programme is interdisciplinary and welcomes educators, artists, researchers, community organisers, and anyone interested in collaborative learning spaces. You don’t need a fully formed workshop idea to join. Participants are welcome to arrive with a rough concept, a question, or simply curiosity.
Income generated from the workshop festival will be proportionally redistributed to facilitators. The aim is to build a sustainable ecosystem where value circulates within the community.
