Innovating to Aid Integrated Water Resource Management in Remote Regions

About this event

Chaired by Professor David Gordon (University of Bristol), we welcome Jon Shepherd, Head of Programmes and Funding at FRANK Water, to lead this interactive workshop session.

What are France and Japan the best in the world at? And Russia is just a little bit better than the UK at? It’s not rugby, it’s not cooking, it’s…water management!

This workshop will discuss integrated water resource management (IWRM) as it relates to ‘international development’ contexts. We will be exploring:

  • How IWRM impact can be measured by organizations and researchers;
  • How we can build research to support the link between IWRM and improved WASH (and other developmental) outcomes;
  • How we can use IT, and specifically apps, to support a localized understanding of IWRM and how impact can be measured.

We are hoping to come away with:

  • A group of people keen to form a research network across the GW4 that focuses on SDG 6.5;
  • The beginnings of a mapping of the research ‘gaps’ on SDG 6.5 within GW4;
  • Ideas of research areas directly of interest and fundable with GW4.

We will be drawing on real experiences from research and service delivery perspectives, including a multi year IWRM project in India, managed by Bristol based NGO, FRANK Water and global engineering company, ARUP.

Please register to attend. Limited spaces available.

The Zoom link will be sent on the day of the event.
