Write and Discover: Workshop + Readings

Overview

Join us for a Botanical Gothic writing workshop, followed by readings from poets Stav Poleg, Tristram Fane Saunders and Kirsten Irving.

In the lead up to our Short Story Mini-Festival on 30th April, Cambridge Writing Centre will be hosting another pair of free events at ARU. Come to one or boh!

At 4.00pm in LAB 006, Artemis Writers will be leading a workshop on writing the Botanical Gothic.

Then from 6.30pm we will be welcoming three poets, reading in the atmospheric cinema room (Coslett 117).

Stav Poleg’s debut poetry collection, The City (Carcanet, 2022) was chosen for the Financial Times’ Best Summer Books 2022, and was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Poetry Prize for First Collection, 2023. Her latest collection is The Banquet (Carcanet, 2025).

Tristram Fane Saunders is a poet, critic, and Senior Commissioning Editor at The Telegraph, as well as current Fellow Commoner in the Creative Arts at Trinity College . He is the author of five pamphlets and one poetry collection, Before We Go Any Further (Carcanet, 2023).

Kirsten Irving is a poet, editor and voice actor. She's the author of Never, Never, Never Come Back (Salt, 2012) and Hot Cockalorum (Guillemot Press, 2022), both of which are also available as digital albums. She co-edits Sidekick Books' Ten Poets series.
