About this event

WriteClub online creative writing course - via Zoom

Four weeks of themed prompt and response workshops

Tickets:

  • Book individual sessions, or all four at once.
  • £14 per workshop or £50 for the series.

What are these workshops about?

In this series of four Write Together online creative writing workshops, you'll be offered themed prompts and provocations, movement and meditation all designed to help you get words on the page. You'll also be given the space to share your words with others should you wish.

You'll be guided all the way, so whether or not you have a regular writing practice, you'll be welcomed wholeheartedly.

These are sessions where you can find inspiration and enjoy the process of writing together.

This is for you if:

  • you know that you enjoy writing with others...
  • ...or you haven't written for a while and want to get started.
  • you have a work in progress that needs some new energy.
  • you want some fresh starting places for your writing.
  • you want to connect with other writers.
  • you want support to get ideas flowing.

Ideal for poets, essayists, memoirists and those who just want to enjoy the process of getting words down on the page.

Come and meet like-minded people, find some inspiration and set your words free!

What are the themes?

This series is using place as the starting point for writing:

Week 1 = City

Week 2 = Forest

Week 3 = Mountain

Week 4 = Lake

You will be offered prompts that are likely to include movement, discussion and poetry and are designed to help you get words out.

Sessions take place on Zoom, so join us, wherever you are in the world.

"...excellent value for money and the chance to do a short course means there is no long-term commitment which some might find difficult." (JL)

"Write Club really helped me to feel confident and engaged in my writing again. Ali provides a welcoming and safe space to deeply explore your writing blocks and help you to get back on your feet." (YM)

"WriteClub is a powerful force for creativity, positivity, and community. Every session is clearly structured, but within that structure is loads of freedom to explore the given topic. Alison has a knack for asking questions that invite new answers, and I leave every WriteClub meet with new insights into my characters and myself." (Kate)

FAQ

Is it an actual club? Like, do I get a badge? Not really. Though there is a community of WriteClubbers who regularly come to workshops both online and in real life. WriteClub offers workshops to help you get words down on the page, to help you deal with procrastination and to get feedback on your work.

What if I haven't written anything before? Well, that's probably not true - we've all written stuff at some point. Basically we're here to create a space for you to get words out. It doesn't matter where you are with your writing. Perhaps you're half way through a second novel. Perhaps you haven't written more than a shopping list in years. Wherever you're at, we'll have a session to suit you.

I really want to work one-to-one rather than in a group. Can I do that? Sure. Pop us an email at hellowriteclub@gmail.com and we'll arrange a time to chat about our mentoring packages.

Who leads the sessions? Workshops are mostly led by WriteClubber-in-chief, Alison Powell. She's been running writing workshops forever (seriously, she even used to get her primary school friends writing stories...) and established WriteClub in 2016. She supports new and established writers and runs regular workshops on all aspects of the writing craft. She is an award winning writer, published in various anthologies and magazines and holds an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa.

She has years of experience as a secondary English & Drama teacher and is also a fully fledged INLPTA certified Master Practitioner of NLP and coaching. She is an active member of NAWE and a channel partner with Paper Nations.

She believes that everyone has the right to express themselves in writing and runs all her sessions with a positive approach and a genuine passion for helping people set their words free. Her love of poetry and story, along with her enthusiasm for helping people find the best in themselves are reflected in her lively, welcoming and open presentation style. She promises to do her very best to ensure you find the support you need to make your writing feel wonderful.
