Writing a Press Release

Are you an SME (small to medium sized enterprise) in the Humber region who is looking to optimise your business profile? Then we have a fully funded course below that will take your business to the next level.
You are working hard on a new piece of work, everything is in place and it looks great, you launch it. But wait a minute, nobody knows about it. Writing an effective press release is essential when you have something happening that you want people to know about and it’s a great way to reach websites, printed press and radio. Without the basic format, knowledge and top-tips you can waste a lot of time and gain little to no results. 
In this course we will pull apart what a press release is, what it looks like and what the point is, helping you understand not only how to create one in the simplest way possible, but also how to send it out and reach press in your area. We will go over: 
•           What press want
•           Why they want it
•           How to get them interested 
•           Building contacts
•           Formatting the press release 
•           Writing a strong email 
•           Associated assets
By the end of the course you will have a purpose, a template and a font of knowledge that helps you implement and deliver a successful press campaign
This course will be delivered by Stewart Baxter, an arts consultant, community worker and producer who has had projects and work featured in local, national and international press and radio such as – The Guardian, Mojo Magazine, BBC Bitesize, BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio 1 as well as managing successful campaigns for a large number of music releases and events. Stewart currently works with The Warren Youth Project, 53 Degrees North Conference, Independent Venue Week, Humber Street Sesh Festival and runs his own company Hinterland Creative as well as co-managing and touring with his own band LIFE.
Important information
This is a fully funded workshop and as a requirement we will need to prove your eligibility. To be eligible you must be an SME based in the Humber region. You will be asked a series of questions which is only used to register and access the funding for this workshop. This information will only be used for these purposes only and will only be shared with the ESF (European Social Fund) and ESFA (Education Skills Funding Agency). On the day you will be asked to complete a quick skills check which is a funding requirement and will only take 10 minutes.
