To enable participants to take a structured approach to writing effective reports which are concise, easy to read, achieve their purpose and are appropriate for the intended audience.
T his training event is part of the Soft Skills Collection but due to scheduling the training day will run on a Thursday, not a Tuesday.
Course Objectives
At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:
• Adapt reports according to their audience and their needs
• Write reports which are accurate, meaningful, factual and support decision making
• Understand the ‘what, who, why’ when writing reports
• Determine the purpose of the report and structuring it, with appropriate analysis, in order to meet the writer’s aims
• Understand the critical parts required in a report and how they fit together
• Construct compelling written arguments
• Understand what is appropriate for appendices and annexes
• Write without ambiguity
• Understand the importance of using plain English
• Understand the importance of correct grammar and punctuation
• Understand the importance of proofreading and demonstrate a staged approach.
This session will take place in-person on campus. (Room location: TM3-02 Collaborative, Yellow Zone) Holloway campus.
