Overview

Join me for two hours guided writing time in nature

Join me for a walk and enjoy two hours guided creative writing time in nature.

We'll meet at the Ivy Green car park opposite The Bowling Green pub in Chorlton, and take a mindful walk through the woods and nature reserve, observing what birds and plants we see and what this brings up for us.

Depending how cold and/or wet it is on the day we'll either walk mindfully through the nature reserve for the first hour, then cosy up in The Bowling Green pub where we can spend the second hour writing. Or we'll spend the whole two hours outside and stop in various places within the nature reserve to write surrounded by nature.

I'll bring some poems and some nature-themed prompts in case you need some extra inspiration, a book on British birds, and some extra pens and paper in case anyone's forgotten any.

Bring your notebook, something to write with, and any nature knowledge you'd like to share. (Plus good shoes for walking and a raincoat!)

There'll be a sharing circle at the end where you'll have the option to read anything you've written or share any thoughts you've had throughout the morning.

As a working class writer I know all about coming up against pay barriers so there's three tiers of admission for these workshops. If you can afford general admission please know it's greatly appreciated, but concession entries are available for those who need them.

Who am I? I'm a Manchester based poet and poetry facilitator; I run the Norther Quarter's monthly poetry open mic & gallery evening: 'The Space Poetic', am a Manchester Writing School MFA student, and writer at 'Poet Notes' on Substack. During 2025 my work has been published by Ink Sweat and Tears, Ver Poets, Ghost Light Lit, and Superlative; and awarded by The Barn Owl Trust and Wirral Poetry Festival (2024).

If it's too wet to write outside we'll do a shorter rainy walk (bring a coat & good shoes!) and then head into the Bowling Green. Details of this will be sent out nearer the time.
