‘Writing the Environment’ is a 6 week writing course that explores nature & environmental writing.
Together we will dive into different forms of nature-writing such as poetry, fantasy and essays. Kaja will share writing examples and industry tips, exercises and prompts, and facilitated writing time.
Every Tuesday 18:00 - 19:45 from the 15th July - 19th August 2025

- Week 3: Articles and Essays for the Environment
- Week 4: Fantasy & Sci-Fi for the Environment
- Week 5: Memoir for the Environment
- Week 6: Nature Writing for The Environment & Conclusion

Who is it for?
This course welcomes all underrepresented communities - those who face barriers due to mental health/ disability, neurodivergence, refugees, working-class backgrounds, LGBT+ community, Black, Asian & other global majority backgrounds. This is a beginner-friendly course for anyone who would like to try new nature writing forms. The course is aimed at adults so please only sign up if you are over the age of 18.
The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet.
About me
My name is Kaja, I am an award-winning writer & editor based in Cardiff. I am published in magazines like Atmos, Refinery-29, The Welsh Agenda, Shado Mag & more. I am also published in a book! I am the reviews editor for Poetry Wales. I have 9+ years experience writing, and have also worked for climate charities.
I am so excited to be running this course and am grateful for the WWF Cymru Community Grant making it possible!
