Midsommar returns to Silver Circle to celebrate the summer solstice with maypole dancing, food, folklore and ritual in the Wye Valley.
Inspired by Swedish midsommar traditions, old British seasonal customs and a few rituals of our own choosing, this is our annual gathering to celebrate the longest days of the year — with flowers, song, shared food and traditions.
We’ll begin at 12pm by decorating the maypole together using fresh flowers and greenery, before raising it in traditional midsummer fashion. Flowers from Haze Flower Farm will also be provided for guests to weave their own simple flower crowns throughout the afternoon.
At 1pm, everyone will gather around long communal tables for a traditional Swedish midsummer lunch of pickled herring, buttery new potatoes, crispbread and classic accompaniments, alongside aquavit and cocktails from the distillery bar, with vegetarian pickled alternatives available.
Then from 3pm, the dancing begins — expect Swedish midsommar songs, dancing around the flower-covered maypole, countryside games and aquavit toasts as the afternoon unfolds.
Tickets include lunch and flowers to make your own flower crown.
