Simon Singh explores past Junior Maths Challenge questions to help students in Year 6 prepare for their first Junior Maths Challenge.

Simon Singh, author of the No.1 bestseller “Fermat’s Last Theorem” and one of the driving forces behind the Maths Masterclasses project, will be giving a 40-minute online maths masterclass via Zoom, which is aimed at students who are currently in Year 6 and attending a UK state primary. Dr Singh will explore questions from a past Junior Maths Challenge paper, a national maths challenge that is offered in thousands of secondary schools, and which is designed to stretch the most able students. Dr Singh will explain how to tackle some of the trickier questions, thus giving students a head start in preparing for the next Junior Maths Challenge.If you register for this masterclass, then you will be emailed a Zoom link just before the masterclass. A parent is welcome to sit in on the masterclass – indeed, this is encouraged if the student has not previously participated in an online tutorial.
