Come and join us for a workshop and learn how to revive and repair a jumper using darning techniques.
About this event
In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn how to revive and repair a jumper using darning techniques. Tessa Solomons, founder of Tessa the Dresser will show you hand stitching techniques that you can use to extend the life of clothes and repair the wear and tear of fabrics and textiles.
Darning is a visible mending technique that can also be used to breathe a unique new life into your favourite clothes, throws and sentimental heirlooms. You will leave the workshop with your revived garment and darning skills that you can continue to develop and use at home. This introductory darning workshop is suitable for beginners.
Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. Tessa Solomons is a Sustainability Consultant for the fashion industry. She graduated from Newcastle University in the early 90s with a degree in Fashion Marketing (the first such degree of its kind in the UK) and has been working ever since across many aspects of the industry from styling and shoot production to media and management for both designer and commercial brands.
As Tessa the Dresser, she is part of a growing number of creative professionals challenging a culture of over-production and throw away fashion. Please bring along a jumper to repair or revive. All other equipment and materials will be provided.
