A FREE week long dance summer school for disabled and non-disabled 11-25 year olds.

<h3>Young Amici, the dance company for disabled and non-disabled 11-25 year olds, will be running a week long virtual Summer School this July! </h3><h3>This FREE summer school is for any young people interested in dance and developing their skills in a fun and safe space. The programme aims to deepen their experience of participation in dance and to spark curiosity for openness and creativity. </h3><h3>Throughout the week, young people will have the chance to create and present their own movement exploration.  We will invite family and friends to join and watch a final sharing of what we have been up to. </h3><h3>Daily sessions will run as follows:</h3><h3>Session 1: 10:30am - 11:30am </h3><h3>Session 2: 11:45am - 12:30pm</h3><h3>Session 3: 7:00pm - 8:00pm</h3><h3>Each session focusing on different techniques including: Contemporary Dance &amp; Improvisation, Yoga, Ballet, Mediation, Feldenkrais and more.</h3><h3></h3><h3>YOUNG AMICI </h3><p>A daily improvisational class where participants will gain tools and methods to create their own dance material. </p><p>Throughout the week, participants will have the chance to create a short solo (up to 5mins) which can be pre-recorded or presented live from their own space on the last evening of the week. </p><p>Led by Artistic Director Ingrid Molinos &amp; assisted by Rosie Leak &amp; Vasara Visockaite.</p><h3></h3><h3>AMICI REP (SILENCE, 1985)</h3><p>A unique chance to learn a piece of Amici rep and discuss methodology and ideas with Amici’s director and founder Wolfgang Stange.</p><p>In this workshop you will learn first-hand ‘the aggression dance’ from SILENCE originally choreographed in 1985.</p><p>The SILENCE production was based on the novel of the same name by the author Shusako Endo. </p><h3></h3><h3>YOGA</h3><p>Follow along Yoga class to stretch, strengthen and limber. Explore balance, flexibility, relaxation and focus on the breath with Amici artist Freya Spencer.</p><p></p><h3>BALLET </h3><p>An extraordinary opportunity to learn ballet technique and stage tips from a ballet star: Federico Bonelli, a Principal dancer at the Royal Ballet.</p><h3></h3><h3>SOUND MEDITATION</h3><p>FORMLESS SOUNDS</p><p>An opportunity for participants and their carers to take a break and engage in a meditative and relaxing experience with the help of sound, led by Kaja Olesinska</p><h3></h3><h3>DRAMA: Find your voice</h3><p>Workshop led by Andrius Gaučas.</p><p>Voice is the most commonly used tool in every day’s life, yet it  still is a great mystery to us. By freeing our voice, relaxing vocal folds and using our imagination, we can achieve tremendous range and qualities we never thought we had. </p><p>Our voice is inseparable from our body and mind. Learning to achieve physical awareness and vocal expression helps us to find our emotional core and connect it with our thoughts.</p><h3></h3><h3>FELDENKRAIS </h3><p>Led by Caroline Scott</p><p>During this hour long session, we will begin with some Feldenkrais explorations helping us to slow down and sense more clearly the connections from our middles out along our spine through our limbs.  We will focus on not holding our breath and not making big efforts but finding a pleasurable way of being and moving.  Smiling can really help! We will then take this into improvised dancing on our own and with others to the music.  The aim is to move where you are at, however you are feeling on the day. The session aims to develop a greater sense of balance and freedom and connection with our dancing selves.  There will be time for reflection at the end.</p><p></p><h3>PRESENTATION</h3><p>Present or share live, via pre-recorded video or through an alternative method (drawings, voice notes, writing) your own movement exploration developed throughout the week: solo of up to 5mins. Alternative methods of expression can be used to present your response to the week’s learning. </p><p>Young Amici leaders will be available to support you through the process and presentation.</p>
