Your Future Planet is a performance from Kigali to a Glasgow audience shown in the golden Climate Portal located at the side of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Your Future Planet (8-12 November) gives audiences the chance to step into the future. There they will meet someone from Suray, a fictional country that, in 2021, is already feeling the effects of climate change. What will Suray be like in 2050? How will the lives of its inhabitants have changed? There are three possible scenarios based on potential outcomes of COP26 and possible levels of action to mitigate climate change. Read more about Suray <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rlKs6zVaoROfq1eW2OrqklGkCWngJ24W/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here.</a>Scenario 1: the world commits to immediately bringing down emissions and warming above pre- industrial levels is limited to about 1.5°C. This would mean a Green New Deals, and for the biggest emitters to work to meet 100% of their energy demand through renewable and zero-emissions sources. Scenario 1 will be performed on Monday 8th November and Friday 12th NovemberScenario 2: the agreements put in place at COP26 are less rigorous. Despite some agreements being made and even acted upon, change is neither bold nor sweeping. Global emissions continue to grow, possibly peaking between 2030-2040. By 2050, a global temperature increase of 2 ̊C would be locked in. Scenario 2 will be performed on Tuesday 9th November.Scenario 3: action enacted following COP26 has been very limited, with none of the scope or urgency required. As a result of growing emissions, increasing consumption and hastening climate events, the global temperature is on track to rise over 4 ̊C above pre-industrial levels. Scenario 3 will be performed on Wednesday 10th November.
