Yugo Queer
A project by Natalija Stepanović, with support from UCL FRINGE & qUCL.
Yugo Queer is a one-day conference featuring an Academics’ Bloc, an intermezzo with three collectives presenting their work, and an Artists’ Bloc. It remaps the Balkans from a war-torn region into one where new forms of activism, art, and affinity can emerge. The conference aims to make area studies more queer and queer studies more far-reaching.
Guests will have the opportunity to browse the makeshift Balkan queer library or take home a piece of the Yugo Queer archive.
Hailing from diverse disciplines and institutions, the speakers are Catherine Baker (University of Hull), Mišo Kapetanović (Austrian Academy of Sciences), MOSTOVI, Julija Ovsec (Charles University), Dino Pešut, Meg Poff (City, University of London), Pomoć, Arbër Qerka-Gashi (Balkanism), Piro Rexhepi (LSE), Koen Slootmaeckers (City, University of London), and David Zlatevski (Queen Mary University of London).
