At Forest Recycling Project we work to promote a greener, more inclusive Waltham Forest. Our main operational area is reclaiming, repurposing and affordably reselling waste material that would otherwise fill and pollute local landfill sites. The three products we recycle are paint, scaffolding wood and fabrics. We believe that social and environmental challenges go hand in hand and volunteering is at the heart of all our activities

Workshop.

Forest Recycling Project 

Let’s rethink our clothing waste systems holistically. Zero-Waste Pattern Cutting is a fun and exciting method of creative pattern cutting, working together with our material to eliminate waste.Please note: Your workshop ticket pays for another workshop the following day, so that one of our volunteers referred from a charity partner can enjoy the same amazing experience. All materials are included in the price of the ticket.The workshop will be led by Olivia and Claire, both graduated from the MA Fashion Futures at London College of Fashion in 2018.Olivia is a fashion designer focusing on sustainable solutions for the design, pattern cutting, and production process. She is currently starting her own social enterprise JOA and is working with charities, second-hand garments and her East London community.Claire is a designer passionate about challenging our current material system by considering how science and creativity can work together to change the world. As co-founder of the drop, she dreams of building a community of individuals, who can come together and enact their individual owers as a collective force for good.This is one of a series of co-making workshops organized by London College of Fashion in partnership with Forest Recycling Project during London Borough of Culture 2019 under the “Making for Change: Waltham Forest” project led by Dr Francesco Mazzarella. This project is part-funded by the Great Place Scheme, supported by Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund #greatplaceschemeParticipants will be added to the Forest Recycling Project mailing list and also be updated on future events of the 'Making for Change: Waltham Forest' project.
