Zipped Pouches
Make a variety of zipped pouches / purses / bags in this easy workshop
Please note - all our workshops start at 10 a.m. - we would be grateful if you did not arrive before 9.45 a.m.
CONTENT
Once you start making these pouches you will never stop! During the session you will have tuition on getting to know your sewing machine and the basics of machine sewing. You will also learn how to sew a zip into a lined pouch. You should have time to make three slightly different types of pouch during the morning.
What we will provide:
Zips
Basic sewing kit (unless you bring your own)
Tea/Coffee and biscuits!
What you will need to bring:
We would prefer you to bring your own sewing machine but if this is not possible we do have a range of machines you can borrow.
Fabric for your pouches, and for the lining. The outer pouch fabrics can be most types of fabric, from cotton, to tweed, to denim, to light upholstery fabric or even blankets. The lining should be light cotton or polycotton. Think about using preloved fabrics from clothes, bedding, cushion covers etc. Old jeans make really good purses. (Stretchy fabrics are not really suitable)
You can choose the size of your pouches, so bring fabric pieces from 20cms x 15 cms upwards.
Alternatively there is plenty of suitable fabric available to buy at The Blue House, for a cost of £2 upwards (depending on the fabric).
