Be still
Be Still was founded with a deep understanding of the emotional weight carried by mums supporting children with mental health challenges. Our one-day wellness retreats offer a compassionate space to slow down, be supported, and reconnect alongside other mothers who truly understand.
Founder Carolyn Rae brings both professional expertise and lived experience to Be Still. She co-founded the first Christian counselling service in Aberdeen and later established her own private practice. Carolyn is a mother to two daughters who have experienced mental health challenges. Following the death of their daughter Tara (27), who was challenged by mental health for much of her life, Carolyn and husband Graeme felt a deep calling to create spaces of care and restoration for other mothers.
Carolyn is currently an alumni of the Breathe Mums community and part of the Breathe online community in California. She has been deeply shaped by retreats led by Kay Warren and, through these experiences, recognised the need for something similar in Scotland — a place of rest, hope, and understanding for mums walking this journey.
