Aberdeen Computing Collaborative
Aberdeen Computing Collaborative is a partnership between Aberdeen City Council, NESCol, Robert Gordon University and University of Aberdeen working with the local digital sector. The Collaborative is focused on implementing the education recommendations of the Scottish Technology Ecosystem: Review and sets out to achieve the following outcomes for Aberdeen City:
- Increase the profile of Computing Science across all stages of learning.
- Attract more graduates to Computing Science teaching positions.
- Increase the opportunities to undertake Professional Graduate Diploma in Education locally and through a variety of routes/entry points.
- Review the curriculum offer to ensure that it is attractive for learners and demonstrates the opportunities within the sector. Ensure that the curriculum offer across school, college and university is joined-up effectively.
- Develop effective professional learning for Computing Science and other teachers which recognises the pace of change in the sector and builds the skills and knowledge to deliver learning and teaching in this area effectively.
- Develop a model for delivery, support and promotion of extra-curricular Computing Science and Digital activities and opportunities to collaborate on this delivery.
- Develop communications for parents/carers which promote the opportunities in the sector.
