Achla Counselling
I'm a counsellor, supervisor, and facilitator who believes that gentleness with ourselves is not weakness, it is where real growth begins. I'm passionate about creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves through compassion, healing, and sustainable self-care.
This work is rooted in my own lived experience. After many years in private practice, I found myself facing compassion fatigue and burnout. I had cared for my terminally ill sister - my lifelong ally, especially during a childhood shaped by our mother's alcholism - but hadn't fully cared for myself in the process. When I stepped back to recover, life brought more heartbreak: my very young granddaughter was diagnosed with leukaemia, and painful family estrangement from other members of the family followed at a time when togetherness felt most needed.
What carried me through was a gradual return to gentleness, learning to offer myself the same kindness I had always tried to give others. I reduces my counselling hours, trained as a supervisor, and began reshaping my work around what truly nourishes.
Workshops like The Courage to Be Gentle are born from that journey. They are an invitation to pause, soften, and come home to yourself. With courage, compassion, and care.
