Bach Network

Bach Network promulgates the study of the life, times and music of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750), aiming to be a leading international centre for the discussion and dissemination of knowledge about the Bach family and its contexts, bringing together academics, scholars, performers and knowledgeable amateurs. We foster and encourage engagement and participation in the study of Bach and his circle to develop new ideas and thoughts through regular meetings, notably at the biennial Bach Network Dialogue Meetings, at the International Biennial Conference on Baroque Music, biennial meetings of the American Bach Society, and at the Leipzig Bachfest.

Bach and his music have always attracted people with a wide range of backgrounds and interests, in the arts, sciences and beyond. Bach Network aims to harvest the fruit of this heritage, addressing the crucial issue of what we can still gain from Bach’s works in a complex world.

Bach Network connects people and stimulates ideas through the written word, in our peer-reviewed, open access publications, Discussing Bach and Understanding Bach, through personal contact at our biennial Dialogue meetings, alternating annually with presentations at the biennial International Conferences on Baroque Music (ICBM), and electronically through our Facebook page and news notifications circulated by email twice or three times per year.
